Our teachers have attended numerous NASA workshops through the Armstrong Flight Research Center.  Teachers have presented for may years at the STEAM Symposium, NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) and CST (California Science Teachers Association) conferences.  One of Emblem's finest served on the CA Science Framework Committee.

    Jon Baker is the Principal at Emblem Academy in the Saugus Union School District.  He has been in education for over 30 years serving as an elementary teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He also served as the Director of Personnel Services for Saugus.  In 2013, Jon was named principal of Emblem Academy and given the responsibility to re-open Emblem with a focus on STEM. Ethics and Entrepreneurship were also added to the focus creating "ESTEEM" - Ethics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Mathematics. Over the seven years Emblem has developed a wonderful STEM program that includes STEMinars, Flight Suit Fridays, Student-run Broadcast, ESTEEM Expo, Project Lead the Way, and most recently a Makerspace!

    Shannon King is a sixth grade teacher at Emblem Academy in the Saugus Union School District.  She has been teaching for 18 years and is a member of the District NGSS steering committee, a district instruction coach, and site upper grade learning specialist. 

    Chris Bague is currently a 6th grade teacher at Emblem Academy in Saugus, CA.  His innovative science podcasting work was cited in Solomon and Schrum’s web 2.0: new tools, new schools and he was the keynote speaker at the 2015 Santa Clarita Educational Foundation’s Teacher Tribute.  Chris has been a District Coach for EL Instruction and has served on the Santa Clarita Environmental Education Consortium Board since 2012. He enjoys camping and travelling with his wife, two daughters, and 10 pound dog named Patches!
